Alan is a co-founder of Asset Strategies, Inc., as well as the founder and principal of Rothstein & Co., LLC. Alan is passionate about helping individuals, families and businesses meet their financial goals. With over 40 years of experience as a CPA and financial advisor, Alan knows the ins and outs of successful tax planning and long-term investing. Alan holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting and has earned the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation from the AICPA.
In Alan’s spare time he enjoys traveling and spending time in his favorite city, New York. His love of the New York Yankees explains why we have stadium seats in our office, but we keep things even with a seat from the Red Sox Green Monster, as well.
Alan is committed to public service. He is a current Board Member and Treasurer of Journey Home, whose mission is to end chronic homelessness in the Greater Hartford area. Alan is also an active member of the Probus Club of Greater Hartford, which helps mentally and physically challenged adults.
Alan’s favorite title is “baba.” Alan raised two daughters, Sharyn and Marisa with his spouse, Marilyn. Sharyn currently writes for a TV show and continues to write for theatre productions. Marisa graduated from law school and is pursuing a career in personal financial planning. Marilyn has authored two novels Lift and Separate and Other Sharp Objects.
Diann has been guiding Asset Strategies clients through the financial planning process, as well as managing their investment assets since 2012. Diann has a master’s degree in financial planning from The College of Financial Planning in Denver, CO. She then went on to earn several prestigious designations, including CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®). Serving on our investment committee, Diann is responsible for prudently reviewing our current investments, as well as vetting our prospective investments. Diann believes strongly that “nothing happens in a vacuum”; that decisions made now affect decisions in the future, making comprehensive financial planning a top priority. She works diligently to make sure that trades are placed into investments that work towards your financial plan, working with our clients to help them take an optimal amount of risk, not chasing unnecessary returns. Diann is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), National Association of Financial Planning Advisors (NAPFA) and the AICPA Personal Financial Planning division.
Diann’s life is also full of philanthropy and community service. Diann has been a member of the P.EO. Sisterhood since 1998 and served on the executive board of the Connecticut State Chapter 2007 - 2014. Diann recently completed a 7-year term serving on the Cottey College Board of Trustees, 2015 - 2022. Diann loves to have fun and easily amuses herself. Two of her life mantras are: “Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway” and “Live Fully, Love Deeply, Laugh Often.”
"George", a Boston Terrier, joined the McChesney family in March 2021. Over time he has grown.... as puppies tend to do..., and is now a 27-pound ball of energy and happiness, and has almost too much energy to visit the ASI office on a regular basis. But no matter where he is, "Everybody loves George."
Sherry Sheehan began working for Asset Strategies in February 2021 as a Tax Assistant and then moved into the role of Client Services Specialist. Not long after that, Sherry was promoted to Financial Planning Associate. She recently earned the FPQP designation (Financial Paraplanner Qualified Professional).
In April 2022, Sherry assumed the role of Director of Operations. She keeps the office running and keeps all of us focused. She's amazing!!
When not working, Sherry enjoys creating art in a variety of media and baking (which she has done professionally.) She also loves to be outdoors hiking, kayaking, and gardening. Sherry has a long history of volunteering. Her most recent commitments were with the Bristol Hospital Hospice program visiting patients, and as a grant writer for Xcel, The Females’ Center of Excellence and Leadership, Inc.
Erinda joined Asset Strategies in June 2022 after working as a Senior Consumer Banker for three years. She is originally from Albania, where she graduated with a Financial and Accounting degree. While there, she also worked as a Regional Business Loan Officer and Regional Underwriter for many years.
Erinda moved to the United States in 2019 with her family and her dog, Kiko. After work she loves spending time with her family and exploring new places. She loves shopping with her daughters, and of course, a good espresso coffee after a long day.
Joe joined Asset Strategies in December 2019 after working as a consultant for a number of years. Joe brings his experience in organization and partner management along with a broad background in business and technology. Along with preparing tax returns, Joe also helps manage the IT infrastructure at Asset Strategies.
Away from the office, Joe enjoys a very busy life which focuses on family and the outdoors. He is an avid cyclist, trail runs, hikes and cross-country skis whenever there’s enough snow. Working in the yard is just another excuse to be outside. A true hands-on individual, he also loves the challenge of designing and building furniture. A firm believer in giving back to his community and preserving our environment, Joe serves on the Board of the New Hartford Land Trust and sits on the Land Conservation Committee.
Marco joined the Asset Strategies family in September 2020, right in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting at Central Connecticut State University. Marco prepares tax returns, responds to tax notices, and dives deeply into tax research.
Outside the office, Marco can be found practicing martial arts at his local gym. As an avid fan of the sport of mixed martial arts, Marco enjoys learning new kickboxing and Brazilian jiu-jitsu techniques. While at CCSU, Marco was a longtime member of the Brazilian jiu-jitsu club.
As an animal lover, Marco is happy to spoil his dog, Hunter, with toys and treats.
Pat moved to CT from Syracuse NY in 1999, and has worked part time at Asset Strategies and Rothstein Co. for close to 20 years, in various capacities. She is a graduate of SUNY Oswego and SUNY ESF with degrees in English and Accounting, respectively. As well as accounting work, she has taught accounting and ESL. Golf and photography are her current favored leisure activities, as well as writing, travel, and unique crafting workshops.
